FASHION FRIDAY

On fashion Friday today, BTL is hosting an amazing hair professional in person of Chinnasa Ezinne Njoku, she is the CEO of Zi’s Hair Flair a prominent hair clinic based in Lagos. With her wealth of experience she teaches us simple tips on how to keep our natural hair natural.

Good evening ladies, it’s a pleasure to be on BTL this week and am sharing with you simple hair tips.

Ladies, we seriously have a lot of work to do with our hair. Our hair is our glory, and how it looks actually brings out our true beauty (not that u have fake beauty oo lol) and face. It’s not just about the braids, weaves, corn rows (Ghana or basket weave) etc that make our hair all done. What about our natural hair? How done is it, how well do you take care of it.

A lot of people admire natural long hair but the good thing is we can actually have it too. Here's a little advice on how we can maintain our own natural hair.

"Your hair is scenting"...hahahahaha... Yea scenting hair, have u got such a compliment before? Not that the hair smells good oo, but that it can take one's breath away (if you know what I mean). Please ladies wash your hair regularly. Especially if u sweat a lot. Wash with good shampoos and conditioners or go to the salon to get them done if u can't achieve it yourself.

Remember we interact with people everyday, in church, at the office, in school, in lecture theaters, seminars etc and u wouldn’t want someone giving you that face, especially those brothers, and maybe they've told you that u take their breath away and you'll be falling in love thinking it’s a compliment. It could actually be your scenting hair ooo.. lol.

If you are on weave (weavon or hair extentions) and you know you sweat a lot please in two weeks at most, loosen your hair and wash. If its braids or corn rows (Ghana or basket weave) three weeks will do. But if u don’t sweat as much and u notice your hair feels weak and rough then loosen it. It'll help your hair grow healthy and strong. Even if u used relaxers before making your hair, wash it still, cause relaxers change hair color and also weakens hair. So the more you wash, you remove both dirt and chemicals from the relaxer, still keeping your hair healthy and strong.

Some people like to cream their hair ehhhnnn! Chai oil oil oil.....some peoples hair can fry egg. Ladies, we know it’s good to oil our natural hair, to keep it moisturized and prevent breakage, but please pity the hair... Little would do abeg. Too much oil causes dandruff and also causes the hair smell. So pleases ease up on what you put on your hair. Even if you are not on your natural hair be careful of the amount of cream, oil, moisturizer or sheen that you apply on that hair. A full scup of your index finger is ok. Unless you are treating your hair of dandruff or any other hair or scalp infections but as prescribed by your (professional) hair stylist.

One of my personal favorites about natural hair is when to use relaxers on hair and how often. Most ladies relax their hair as soon as they think it’s thick or locking. Some every two weeks, others every month. Did you know that these relaxers have chemical contents used to make drain cleaners to unclog sinks? It’s even used to remove fur from animals in the leather making industry. And this is the same chemical that you want to apply to your precious hair? Are u really willing to risk the damage resulting from the use of chemical hair straighteners? Because thats what they do, straighten your hair, not strengthen it. hmmmm abeg ooo think again.
But d right time and spacing for retouching your hair should be in every three/four months. That’s far? Better do it that way oo, if not you'll turn bald untimely or grey hair would move in at an early age. too much relaxing  permanently alters the natural pH balance and chemical breakdown of your hair. This process weakens each strand of your hair. Hair breakage and scalp irritation are common side effects from relaxing or perming your hair to frequently. So una don hear. Be good to your hair, it’s a part of your body too.

Hopefully, a few of these would give you ideas on how to maintain your hair. Let's revive our natural hair by washing regularly and avoiding to much of hair creams and relaxers so we can have that desired natural hair...and also save up money from those brazillians, cambodians, peruvian etc "ians" that we use to cover up.
Let those guys give you compliments like beautiful hair, you smell lovely and I love your natural hair...not your hair is scenting hehehehehehe. Would bring more tips on hair on Blog to Lyfe. Have a blessed weekend……cheers

STILL 24HRS

Pen on paper, from paper to paper and then I bind with a stapler, that’s how I bring my thoughts to life.”

Good evening people, busy day unh? Well, here’s your encouragement, you’ll never get less busy, yeah you heard me, never ever forever, you’ll just eventually have to fall in love with your work or job or whatever it is that you are chasing.

Let me take you through this, aiit? Thank you.
As a baby, what mattered then was mums breasts, pooping on yourself and making a lot of noise crying. As a growing child, likes changed, you now have school, you now tell funny stories, tell few lies (yeah, remember all those fake stories, those ones you cooked up, hmm….yeah those ones) bruise yourself while playing rough, see cartoons, bruise yourself again, school inter house sports on and on…… all this while you are busy watching others grow and thinking to yourself, when do I get to “Grow up”? Soon enough.
Now, you are a teenager, you’ve got more to worry about there’s this person you are crushing on, and you really need to yield to the Holy Spirit to help you focus on the right thing—Spiritual Growth— there’s Mum and Dad, and they are ALWAYS  reminding of how you need to constantly remember where you are coming from and where you are going. How they really expect you to wake up one morning all grown up and mature , they never want to see you repeat the same mistakes they made, there’s school and your grades and then you have dreams (big ones) and you are still trying to figure out how to birth them.

And what’s this thing about always being bored I hear everywhere, frankly, boredom is a disease and its spreading really fast. The thing is; a lot of young people need  to understand that happiness is a personal thing. You can only get to share in people's in happiness and also give them a chance to share in yours, the only human being that can make you happy is you!
If you don’t learn how to truly find happiness and be happy all by yourself, what happens when your friends leave or break your trust, what happens then? I’m guessing it’s gonna be a long steep slope down into loneliness.
You should know that being ALONE and being LONELY are not the same thing, being alone involves a complete understanding of self- worth, it means being able to find happiness from within, enjoying being all by yourself, finding peace in your Maker, From Him and in Him, anyone who finds this will always be a light in the dark and a good reason to smile for many.
Loneliness on the other hand is a disease eating real deep into  happiness, keeps you worried for no reason, and it never comes without its friends—depression and a window for temptation.
Soon you are all grown up, and planning to get married, trying to settle in life with the One. You have a job and you still have plans to birth your dreams with an added advantage, you now have your own finances! In the same time, you’re either trying to be a good mother or Father and a good husband or wife as well, you love your kids, you have to be there for them, you want to see them grow, you want them happy. You still have your parents but now they need you, they need you to be around them, they want to see their grand-children and they want to spend time with them.

Let’s dig deeper. Shall we?
If you are a woman, you’ll have to be both a good Mum and a great wife; you definitely would have to be your best at both. Your husband wants to know he still gets his alone time with you (oh yeah) without the kids disturbing and yet you have kids who would love to run all around the house making noise and asking Mummy funny questions.
With all of these you’ve got to maintain a growing relationship with GOD ensuring you spend quality time with HIM, without whom there would be no purpose for all I’ve just mentioned.

For a man, here’s the deal, first you are a man, and mehn being one takes the LOVE of GOD, so first you have to Love GOD greatly and you have to understand to teach your wife and kids to LOVE GOD also. This is the only way to establish and maintain LOVE in the family, its all about GOD.
You’ll be husband to your wife taking care of her emotional and financial needs simultaneously, you’ll also have to be a great father to the kids, a great Dad who will show them the way to find GOD. Taking care of their moral, emotional and financial needs. *mehn, that’s a lot*

So, tell me, when do you ever get less busy? You only would have to learn to apply yourself to time. You cannot manage time, there’s no such thing as time management because you can neither control time nor save some up for tomorrow. You exist under its influence, so getting less busy, ahn ahn... that never happens, you’ve just got to get better with making prudent and wise use of every hour.
So, now you know, its always going to be busy, so get ready, be steady and I’m sure you’ll get home strong.

"Sunday Best" Season 6 winner was crowned during the finale on Sept. 1 on BET.

Tasha Page-Lockhart, 30, won the title of "Sunday Best."
The hit gospel music show, hosted by gospel singer Kirk Franklin, is modeled after “American Idol" with three popular gospel celebrities: Yolanda Adams, Donnie McClurkin and CeCe Winans. Kim Burrell is mentor to the contestants.

The two finalists, Tasha Page-Lockhart of Detroit and Kefia Rollerson of Philadelphia stood equal chances of winning; however, Lockhart received the most votes from the public.
After hearing who the winner was, the crowd gave a standing ovation, and Lockhart burst into tears and said:

“First of all, thank you, Jesus. God is amazing. I didn't even think I was good enough for anything like this. I just thank God because he brought me from such a long way.”
It was an amazing journey for Lockhart because she almost didn't compete. A friend was so sure she could win that he paid for her ticket to Houston to audition.

Lockhart is the choir director of the Rose of Sharon Church of God in Christ in Highland Park.
As the winner of "Sunday Best," Lockhart gets a Ford Fusion, a recording contract and a monetary prize.
Congratulations, Tasha Page-Lockhart!
