"Sunday Best" Season 6 winner was crowned during the finale on Sept. 1 on BET.
Tasha Page-Lockhart, 30, won the title of "Sunday Best."
The
hit gospel music show, hosted by gospel
singer Kirk Franklin, is modeled after “American Idol" with
three popular gospel celebrities: Yolanda Adams, Donnie McClurkin and CeCe
Winans. Kim Burrell is mentor to the contestants.
The two finalists, Tasha Page-Lockhart of Detroit and Kefia Rollerson of Philadelphia stood equal chances of winning; however, Lockhart received the most votes from the public.
After
hearing who the winner was, the crowd gave a standing ovation, and Lockhart
burst into tears and said:
“First of all, thank you, Jesus. God is amazing. I didn't even think I was good enough for anything like this. I just thank God because he brought me from such a long way.”
It
was an amazing journey for Lockhart because she almost didn't compete. A friend
was so sure she could win that he paid for her ticket to Houston to audition.
Lockhart is the choir director of the Rose of Sharon Church of God in Christ in Highland Park.
As
the winner of "Sunday Best," Lockhart gets a Ford Fusion, a recording
contract and a monetary prize.
Congratulations,
Tasha Page-Lockhart!
