Personally, I
have anticipated the release of this article; it has in its raw form blessed a
whole lot and has ministered to me as well. For easy assimilation we have
decided to break it down into factions and release them in bits, so this week
we will walk around the intro and then, get into the sub-headings next week. Little
by little we will let it out. This should allow for easy understanding, proper
feedback, questions and comments. Be blessed as you read.
One fact
about God is the impossibility of his making a mistake. Every minute of all
that happened in the bible is of relevance to our everyday life; from the
separation of the red sea to when he changed water to wine and on and on. These
chain of occurrences stands for purpose.
Recently,
the lord opened my spirit to the understanding of Mathew 4 and Luke 4. We
all are familiar with that story when Christ was tempted by the devil. And the
very understanding the Spirit gave me in that happening is that God has
communicated the three major categories of temptations and most of all taught
us how to overcome every one of them. And yes that’s why I titled this
“FIGHTING TEMPTATIONS”. So here we are discussing a kingdom way of fighting
temptations.
First, bear
this in mind: the devil is a trickster; he is the cunniest being known to man.
Without doubt, he has penetrating strategies strong enough to sweep practically
anyone off their feet. Nevertheless, having an understanding of these tricks and
possessing the ability to discern them, helps to shake loose of their hold on you.
To further
explain the trick star phenomenon, we would take a quick leap to the near end
of one of our study text Luke 4:13. Which
reads “and when the devil had ended all his temptations, he departed from Him
(Jesus) for a season” i.e. when
the devil had exhausted the entire tricks he prepared for Christ, he had to
leave, then again for a season. You see, when the devil plans an attack, what
he does is just plan strategies to confuse you to do wrong, this strategies are
what turns out to be temptations, it turned out as temptations for Adam, it
turned to be temptations for Christ and yes it will turn out as the same for
you but Christ has not only taught us but showed us how to be an over comer
amidst all. Then again the fact that the devil was said to have left only for a
season shows that the life of a Christian is filled with temptations, but the
good thing is that the Lord has promised not allow temptations we can’t handle
come our way. 1Cor10:13; “But God is faithful, who will not
allow you to be tempted above what you are able.” Now note; all kinds of temptations
fall under the three Christ faced leaving it as our basis for warfare against
temptations and basically teaching us that only with the word can we likewise
outsmart the devil
Remember
that Christ was born simply to die for our sins... He only lived
those 33 years
of His in order to show us how to live. Christ is our model, a typical example
of the life of a true Christian. He felt our pains, saw our fears and
understood our human weakness; He then taught us how to handle these. Little
wonder Paul said in Heb 4:15: “For we
have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our
infirmities but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin”.
Through His experience, we acquire a template of how to deal with our own
situation.
Now we are
gliding into our discuss gradually, so to make this interesting and also to
ease the understanding process, I coined
out three words to name each category of this temptations gotten from the basic
idea of each. Namely: TemptiDespiricio,
TemptiReligio and TemptiGreedise. I would therefore
analyze them each with respect to the account in Mathew and basically as the
spirit leads.
But this is
as much as this week’s package can take; stay tuned to BTL to further get the
rest of this teaching.
Remain Blessed
