Jennifer Hudson Takes Us To Church On Gospel Anthem “Be Grateful”: Listen

Jennifer Hudson deserves an award for her service to soundtrack albums. The diva’s contribution to Dreamgirls is legendary, she recently wowed with Winnie Mandela power ballad “Bleed For Love” and now adds some vocal firepower to the Black Nativity OST.
“Be Grateful” is a gospel standard that begins smoothly — and with a little help from co-stars Forest Whitaker and Jacob Latimore — before is becomes a joyous celebration and the Academy Award winner really lets loose vocal. Get ready to praise Him for creating J-Hud’s vocal chords after the jump.

Should Jennifer release a gospel album? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

ARISE O' COMPATRIOT

Arise, O compatriots,

Nigeria's call obey

To serve our Fatherland

With love and strength and faith.

The labor of our heroes past

Shall never be in vain,

To serve with heart and might

One nation bound in freedom, peace and unity.

The last time I penned on paper was probably about a month ago. I got a job and a whole lot of things changed, 24hrs suddenly became too little, contrary to been too much in my couch up days. I barely have time to think, talk less of write, anyways, that’s a topic for another day. But bear in mind that for those of you who still lazy around the house, couch ridden and putting bored AF on your pm, your 24hrs will not increase when your days become busier, there’s a lot of wisdom in learning busy now.

Happy Independence day though, its the start of a new year for Independent Nigeria and the start of a new month for us all. My family and I celebrated ours in church and it was really interesting. We sang the national anthem; it was probably my first time singing it after about a year since I remember singing it last in last year’s independence celebration. Gone are the days when we sang it every school morning, it was just a routine then though, we didn’t even know the exact words talk less of its essence and meaning. I mean I remember singing “One Nation Pound In Freedom” for years till I realized it was wrong.

The Pastor made us sing the National Anthem three times today and in it all, I realized this anthem could pass for a chapter in the book of Psalms. So intense and deep and in simple words, it brings the entire message of commitment to heart.

I gave it a deeper thought and decided not on an analysis but adding a little length and a couple of synonyms to help you realize that been a Nigerian is not necessarily by birth or migration, but it is a commitment, one that most of us have fizzled out of, leaving most part of the job to mere mouth service. So here it is:

Arise O’ Compatriot

Arise O’ Nigerian

Arise O’ Northerner, Southerner, Westerner and also the Easterner

Be you Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba or whatever.

Be you a Muslim or a Christian or even an Atheist.

Arise to a call of duty, A call from our Father Land, Our pride land, Our Home Land.

A call to service, service from our hearts, embedded with strength, with Love to share and with Faith in each other wheather far or near.

Imagine if Nnamdi Azikwe, Tafa Balewa, Obafemi Awolowo and all our freedom fighters sat back while they should have fought, we would have no home, at least not a home to call ours. So let not their effort be in vain by Serving selflessly and thoughtfully with all our hearts and might.

One Nation One Nigeria. Beautiful and Resourceful. Now bound together by its hard earned liberty and tranquility, unified despites its diversity.

So next time you sing the Nigeria National Anthem, as a Nigerian, bear in mind that its not just a routine but a commitment call, not to our tribes or religion but to our dearly beloved Nation.

Be a true Nigerian, Our Father Land needs it now more than ever.

Thank You.

deji ONADEKO.

Letters From The Creator -- by Damian

Dear Son,

I have given you a woman, a wife, to be a blessing to her and to inspire her, be a visionary so that she can be a ‘help mate’ and help achieve your goals, that’s how I made her, and if you turn out lazy, she sure would not be helping any vision then, would she?
I need you to understand YOUR ROLE as a leader and not a boss that’s why am writing you this, follow this steps and you’ll be heading straight for success.
·         Don’t always think you have all the solutions, sometimes she just wants to talk and doesn’t need you trying to fix the issue at hand, not that she’s stupid; she just needs you to listen to both what she’s saying and what she’s not. Don’t take MY place in her live, I’m still her Creator, always remember that.

·         I am your God and I don’t Lord it over you, so don’t bully her with the same strength I gave you for her protection, to get the best out her, you need to love and reassure her like I do to you. Get more instructions on this from Abraham your Grandfather.

·         You’ll realize that’s she’s emotional and sensitive, so much that she wants you to notice that grey hair growing behind her head, resist the urge to not need her all the time and the urge to always want to hide your own emotions, she wants to feel at home around you.

·         She’s a woman of God but she’s still a woman and she still loves flashy things and little surprise gifts, a kiss on the head, flowers at work a beautiful evening dress, well, never take her for granted.

·         She always wants to know what’s going on in your head, that very thing you are thinking about. What you think about her clothes and her bag and on and on, endeavor to be observant and don’t miss much.

·         She enjoys attractive helpmates, one that she can stand next to and be proud of and one that satisfies her (not just financially but also emotionally). As you grow old, don’t forget to stay fit and strong for her, because she’s yours to care for and yours to satisfy.

Well, if you need more help as situations arise I’ll tell you what to do in a thousand and one situations, be led by My Spirit and My Word given to you in the Bible and you’ll never miss out on anything I have planned for you.

God

LIVE YOUR DREAM - By Deji Onadeko

After a long day at work, I decided to stay the night in the office to catch the frenzy of the night at the studio, besides I volunteer at AIM Consults, owner of CoolFM, WazobiFM and Nigeria Info. I decided a night won't hurt. Well indeed am up and the night didn't hurt only that am hungry and my mouth is pleading to get cleaned up.

But before last night was over, I watched an OAP (On Air Personality) do her thing on air, she's serving and she was having so much fun already as a youth corper. I imagined that she is living her dreams already, her own fairy tale. Then I thought that some medical doctor is serving far north taking care of sick poor children and then getting bitten by mosquitoes every night but the joy comes when she sees her patients getting well, well that's her living her dreams, her fairy tale. Another dude is serving in a school far in the east, maybe not what he expected but he still finds joy in impacting knowledge, and then in his heart he believes he is living his dreams, he's fairy tale.

I know some of you would not agree with me with these examples as anybody living there dreams. But take a minute and pause, what’s your fairy tale filled with? Cars, properties, vacations, a perfect husband or wife, successful children etc. But the question is, is it about the cars, the glamour and all, don't we just want to be happy, healthy and relevant, don’t we just want to smile and get a smile in return? Am sure at this point you are nodding already, you agree yeah?

Alright, the reason why we want all those plenty glamour is simply because we check for satisfaction in the wrong places. In the popular song titled flying without wings done by Westlife, they said some find this satisfaction in the eyes of their children, some in pets etc, but that when they find it, they feel like they are flying without wings. But the truth is, it’s not in the eyes of their children or pets whatsoever, it’s in that simple daily routine you do every day that makes you at peace with your spirit and most of all, the one who sent you, your Creator.

You know, you can never be sad doing what God asked you to do, never. Following God's plan foolishly is the wisest thing a man can do for himself. Don't get carried away by all the beautiful things in the world today, if God sends you to a village that's where your joy lies, nowhere else. So that young lady on T.V is not exactly happy because been on T.V is interesting and pays well but maybe that is her God given instruction for the moment, the doctor downtown in Syria in the middle of the war is not happy because of the job prestige but maybe that is his God given instruction for the moment. Abraham followed blindly and had it good for him, Jonah got scared along the line, but finally did, it changed his life and those God sent him to.

In the long run you realize living your fairy tale is not about you, it is about those God has sent you to, they are bound to smile before you, and once they smile you smile. Don't be quick to think it's a broke corner and people who get down this lane don't get the pay, please we do, Abraham did, Solomon did, Job did and my humble self also. Remember seek first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness and every other thing (money, cars, properties, name it) shall be added unto you. And even the richest man ever in current history in person of John D Rockefeller who was worth $663 billion and was the founder of Standard oil now known as Exxon Mobil would say God gave me money and I am not apologetic about it. You see, so God gives money.

In conclusion friends, your fairy plan shouldn't be your plan, the best fairy tale plan is the one drawn by God Himself.

 Have a lovely weekend.
