FASHION FRIDAY

On fashion Friday today, BTL is hosting an amazing hair professional in person of Chinnasa Ezinne Njoku, she is the CEO of Zi’s Hair Flair a prominent hair clinic based in Lagos. With her wealth of experience she teaches us simple tips on how to keep our natural hair natural.

Good evening ladies, it’s a pleasure to be on BTL this week and am sharing with you simple hair tips.

Ladies, we seriously have a lot of work to do with our hair. Our hair is our glory, and how it looks actually brings out our true beauty (not that u have fake beauty oo lol) and face. It’s not just about the braids, weaves, corn rows (Ghana or basket weave) etc that make our hair all done. What about our natural hair? How done is it, how well do you take care of it.

A lot of people admire natural long hair but the good thing is we can actually have it too. Here's a little advice on how we can maintain our own natural hair.

"Your hair is scenting"...hahahahaha... Yea scenting hair, have u got such a compliment before? Not that the hair smells good oo, but that it can take one's breath away (if you know what I mean). Please ladies wash your hair regularly. Especially if u sweat a lot. Wash with good shampoos and conditioners or go to the salon to get them done if u can't achieve it yourself.

Remember we interact with people everyday, in church, at the office, in school, in lecture theaters, seminars etc and u wouldn’t want someone giving you that face, especially those brothers, and maybe they've told you that u take their breath away and you'll be falling in love thinking it’s a compliment. It could actually be your scenting hair ooo.. lol.

If you are on weave (weavon or hair extentions) and you know you sweat a lot please in two weeks at most, loosen your hair and wash. If its braids or corn rows (Ghana or basket weave) three weeks will do. But if u don’t sweat as much and u notice your hair feels weak and rough then loosen it. It'll help your hair grow healthy and strong. Even if u used relaxers before making your hair, wash it still, cause relaxers change hair color and also weakens hair. So the more you wash, you remove both dirt and chemicals from the relaxer, still keeping your hair healthy and strong.

Some people like to cream their hair ehhhnnn! Chai oil oil oil.....some peoples hair can fry egg. Ladies, we know it’s good to oil our natural hair, to keep it moisturized and prevent breakage, but please pity the hair... Little would do abeg. Too much oil causes dandruff and also causes the hair smell. So pleases ease up on what you put on your hair. Even if you are not on your natural hair be careful of the amount of cream, oil, moisturizer or sheen that you apply on that hair. A full scup of your index finger is ok. Unless you are treating your hair of dandruff or any other hair or scalp infections but as prescribed by your (professional) hair stylist.

One of my personal favorites about natural hair is when to use relaxers on hair and how often. Most ladies relax their hair as soon as they think it’s thick or locking. Some every two weeks, others every month. Did you know that these relaxers have chemical contents used to make drain cleaners to unclog sinks? It’s even used to remove fur from animals in the leather making industry. And this is the same chemical that you want to apply to your precious hair? Are u really willing to risk the damage resulting from the use of chemical hair straighteners? Because thats what they do, straighten your hair, not strengthen it. hmmmm abeg ooo think again.
But d right time and spacing for retouching your hair should be in every three/four months. That’s far? Better do it that way oo, if not you'll turn bald untimely or grey hair would move in at an early age. too much relaxing  permanently alters the natural pH balance and chemical breakdown of your hair. This process weakens each strand of your hair. Hair breakage and scalp irritation are common side effects from relaxing or perming your hair to frequently. So una don hear. Be good to your hair, it’s a part of your body too.

Hopefully, a few of these would give you ideas on how to maintain your hair. Let's revive our natural hair by washing regularly and avoiding to much of hair creams and relaxers so we can have that desired natural hair...and also save up money from those brazillians, cambodians, peruvian etc "ians" that we use to cover up.
Let those guys give you compliments like beautiful hair, you smell lovely and I love your natural hair...not your hair is scenting hehehehehehe. Would bring more tips on hair on Blog to Lyfe. Have a blessed weekend……cheers
